Wade ,a better solution for the alignment would be to use a fabricated spindle upright with the proper caster built in .
I've used some from Fatman Fabrications that use positive instead of negative caster on a car I did several years ago that was a bracket car . The fabricated part might need NHRA approval, but that type of part makes more sense than a rack and pinion since there is no other practical way to achieve sufficient positive caster .
