Default Earlville D5 Points Meet Moved to Great Bend

For anyone who hasn't already heard, Earlville is too wet to have the divisional this weekend, so NHRA has made Great Bend into a double.
From the D5 site:

Division 5 Lucas Oil Event at Tri-State Raceway Postponed
The NHRA D5 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Event, previously scheduled for Tri-State Raceway this coming weekend, has been postponed. Track officials have deemed the majority of the facility unusable for parking with more heavy rain predicted the remained of the week.

The event will be moved to SRCA Dragstrip Sept 27-28 (Thurs-Fri). The SRCA event will run Sept 29-30 (Sat-Sun). Alcohol classes will compete Fri-Sat-Sun. (Sun eliminations)The track plans to conduct a test day on Wednesday. A complete detailed schedule will be released later this week.

Thumbs down Re: Earlville D5 Points Meet Moved to Great Bend

Went from a 200 mile trip to over 700 miles. Not on my list of races to attend.

It makes the trip to Great Bend a lot more palatable. I'm wondering if the car count is going to be Topeka-esque and, if so, can the facility handle it? I've never been there.

I can't think of any facility other than Vegas that can handle as many cars on concrete as Great Bend. There's concrete parking for at least 600 cars, reasonably priced concession stand with good food, showers and flush crappers, very long shut down area, many electric outlets at a fair price with 20, 30 and 50 amp. Airshow next door during this divisional event. The only concern I would have is getting a motel room if you need one. I'm one of the ones that will be lucky enough to get another divisional event as I couldn't afford to go to Brainerd or Earlville. Great Bend is 50 miles from me. Watch the video below to get an idea of what the Great Bend facility is like. The track is on the right side of the video.

Thanks, Darrel! Looks good and not likely to get lost in the pits!
