That is some great work, the early Challenger is one of the best designs of all time! The new one captures the old profile, alas on a too chunky scale.

We are here at the sight of the first U. S. Nationals. It kinda gives you "goose bumps" knowing you're at the exact spot where the first racer tried to qualify in 1955! I sure wish I could find a copy of the protest letter against the 1955 COPO's, I'm sure only the names and dates have changed.

Track elevation 1884'. It could be fast if the tail wind is strong.

We are in stacking and should be parking about 3 this afternoon according to the schedule. It is raining lightly and a little cooler today. We are going out to Granny's for breakfast. It was recommended by someone here at the track. We tried a place in town for dinner last night that I wasn't crazy about, but it could be that I just ordered the wrong thing. The name of the restaurant was The Page.

I have a few more pictures from Indy and on the road yesterday that I will post a little later.

LOL..... In 1955 I can't help but think that many protests were settled with fists.

The picture of the SS final is awesome, with the American flag and the Arch in the background, seriously cool.

Thank you for sharing all your experiences from the road.

My Dad was at that first race. He was stationed at a nearby Air Force base. He and his buddies were car enthusiasts but they went looking for women. At the time he had no clue how big drag racing would be in his life.
