I think it is a good idea. I have like most of you been in plenty of double red light rounds and it never felt right about advancing with a worse red light in a faster car.

IMO Trustart will move S & SS one step closer to et bracket racing. For example, in SS a large percentage of entries run 9.80's to 10.70's. So.... if my combo ran say 10.50 there is an incentive to make it et quicker with the current system. Like upgrade the cylinder heads, try a new converter, cam, tires, etc. With Trustart why bother to spend any extra time or money to improve your performance? Just keep lumbering down the track. It would be a step back of the performance aspect that the class was based on.

Someone brought up pro tree racing as always having true start makes a good point why it works for big money bracket racing since both racers are hitting the same top yellow essentially a pro tree using their electronics. Not so for pro, street, stock and super stock.
Slower car gets a clean tree - advantage. Faster car has to concentrate as the slower car passes the tree and/or a long wait - disadvantage. Faster car has the race in front - advantage. Slower car has opponent running it down needing to judge rate of closure or blindly trust the dial - disadvantage. Looks to me like it's pretty even with each having some disadvantage. Being the slower car is way harder than having the race in front of you (have done both) - Faster car advantage. Faster cars tend to be easier to dial and more consistent - faster car advantage. With very low HP cars hitting the tree is very difficult as well as hard to dial - slow car disadvantage. Very high HP cars (small tire cars deep in the 9s and quicker) don't always hook and can be hard to dial - faster car disadvantage. Even with the disadvantages of the extremes true start sure seems to give an advantage to the faster car in a true full tree race other than red lights (.010 and worse) when the driver essentially left before the bottom yellow.

I don't think most class racers make their car run farther under the index so they get to be the faster car during eliminations. . I think having a faster car in your class is a matter of pride of having your combo run farther under the index ( or the ability to ), having a better chance when you have a heads up run, and being able to qualify in the top half of the ladder to either avoid a heads up run with a faster car or to be able to move around on the ladder. I recently heard one racer tell me he wants to make his car run faster because he hates being a designated pair. Not sure if I like trustart or not, but If it comes, we will all deal with it.

I have to say everyone's opinion on advantage and disadvantages are different. For me I don't mind being the slower car, in fact I prefer it. I have the first opportunity to win or lose the race. The race is in my hands, I'm in front and if I want to can stay that way. If I do what I'm supposed to do and the car is where it needs to be, the man chasing me is only going to have a few thousandth to get inside of if anything at all. Advantage me lol!

With the exception of a couple , this is a big difference from the thread I started citing the results of a race between Jody and Gullet that I just stated, here is where Tru-Start would change the results. Right "old"

Go to search window and type in truestart. You will see what everyone thought back in 2016. It ended up being quite even with opinions
