Some of these combos have plenty of potential and can be made to run very well. Someone needs to end the talk and come off a dime or two. It would be a wise decision for someone to buy the car Mark is selling because that is a true dime rocket. |

[QUOTE=Glenn Hayes;353740]Bruce,
Just curious, what does one do with the rear suspension to make it work with a 2 bbl over a 4 bbl ![]() Simple stuff. Reset Caltracs, soften up the shocks etc.

There's a 2 barrel Monza out there that runs relatively stout.

The more I read all of these posts about that combo, the more I'm glad I sold my '81 D5 Street Eliminator winning '73 Pontiac Ventura, that had a 350 2bbl combo. At Bandimere's my stock 173 engine in my Z24 ran about the same in the quarter (maybe a few tenths quicker), at 17.55 than my Ventura ran, however the Ventura was a 3600lb car w/o me in it, vs the approx. 2600+ lb car with me in it.
It may be more of a challenge to race and win rounds with, but it was probably much cheaper to build and make competitive.

Is the 1976 Camaro with the 305 2bbl still a good combo? I got everything except the cam, gears for the 8.5 10-bolt rear, and converter for the Metric 200. Found a complete 305 2bbl out of a 76' Nova for $150 to use as the starting point for the engine. Bullet did the crank, cast pistons on Scat rods. Most of the work was done locally. Car is running with a different engine. I started kicking this around awhile back and got enough parts together to do it whether it was a class car or a experiment to bracket race with in my 83' Camaro.

Another post to mull over while you're sheltering-in-place.
