Default Re: Radiator

According to NHRA Rulebook, Stock classes:

"Full size radiator mandatory for body used. Aluminum radiators permitted; must retain stock dimensions and appearance. Cutting, denting or elimination of any body, fender, radiator or grille panels prohibited."

Basically, this means that a top/bottom tank (vertical flow) radiator cannot be replaced with a cross-flow radiator and the hose inlet/outlet located must be in the original configuration. Most cars were available with heavy duty radiators, which typically had additional rows of tubes, therefore I don't think that there is any restriction on the thickness of the radiator core used.

Main thing it's not a round track or street car so you dont need the 3or 4 row core , so a 2 row should work wright . The cost is very different between different makes so is it a quality thing or paying for the name ?

Ken, check out Spectra Radiator. I used one on my car, direct factory aluminum replacement and very reasonable, and good fit. I believe any NAPA can get them. Also, keep in mind most aluminum radiators I have seen have 1 inch cores vs 3/4 inch cores like most factory radiators.

Hope this helps.
