I bet that you never would think you would see all of that in the same sentence, but there is a back story and it didn't involve Indy.
A few years ago the Crew Chief and I were racing in Tulsa. Ed lives fairly close to the track and offered to let us stay with he and Jeanie. Jeanie by the way is a very lovely woman and we are certain that she is up for Sainthood soon. Ed lives in a very nice house. I won't go into details, but they have one of the nicest libraries in any home I have ever seen. It is so nice and large that it has a ladder that will roll from one side of the wall to another for the books on the upper shelves. It also has a quaint little seating area with two chairs and a reading table between them. This is key to the story. Ed was giving us the tour when I spotted a well worn 50 Shades of Grey that was the only book on that reading table. This thing was dog eared. I thought to myself that this factoid may come in handy later and it did. Ed and Jeanie took us to a nice restaurant for breakfast a couple of days later. Jeanie had left the table for a moment when the library image popped back into my mind. I asked Ed what was up with the 50 Shades of Grey book that was out on the table in his library. Ed immediately fired back that I was full of crap because there is no such book in his house. He was right on the first part, but not on the second. Neither one of us would let it go. Him calling me a liar and between my laughter of tears trying to tell him to pay attention to the book. Jeanie had returned and wanted to know what we were talking about when Ed said I was bothering him by claiming there was the 50 Shades of Grey on the table in their library. Jeanie said it is true and that it was on loan from one of her girlfriends. They passed it around the group of them which explains why it was so worn out. Ed said "I can't believe Kyle was telling the truth. I had no idea it was there and you have been reading it." I said "Well Ed......." |
