Yep, and Pete still runs the car. Was even at the Boise D6 opener. Car has always been fast too.

The car is Bill Kost's (RIP) 1977 442 Oldsmobile in its old paint scheme and currently raced by his brother, Pete Kost.

SSDiv6, As I recall Bill raced the car well into his seventies, did Pete start running it around 10 years ago? I’m guessing the Olds and the Worm’s Grand Am are the two longest campaigned stockers in the PNW?

As is Jim Devine's Duster.

The picture is of Bill's car with Vicki behind the wheel. The car is very fast still. Pete is now 85, if my memory works right and still having fun.

If you want to talk old days of drag racing and hear some amazing stories, just talk with Pete at a race. Yes, we all still miss Bill. R.I.P.

I believe there are a few Stock and S/Stock cars that have been around for many years here in the N.W.

The car is actually a Cutlass, original six cylinder stick shift car.

As others have mentioned, this was Bill Kosts car, and brother Pete has raced it since Bill death some time ago. Gotta say, I don`t recall ever seeing the Olds with that "Charmer" lettering on the door. As for long running Div. 6 Stockers, John Buczynskis E/SA (real) 340 6 barrel 70 AAR Cuda was bought brand new by John. Jim Devine has been racing his "Lemon Twister" 340 4 speed Duster since the mid 70s, pretty sure there are several other NW Stockers racing by the same owners for 30+ years. Same with some S/S cars. Rick Pikes SS/NA 56 Chev, and Jim Johnsons SS/OA 55 Chev have each won a National Event, and have been race cars since the 60s. Jim has owned his 55 since the mid 60s.

Yes, the car was originally a 6-Cyl, 3-speed stick shift car and the way Bill ordered the car when he was still co-owner of Loberg's Oldsmobile in Renton, Washington. He stripped the car and put a 403 Olds in the car.

He also especially ordered a stripped down, 1978 Olds Delta with a 403 engine that Vicki drove for some time and later sold to Gary Johnson and raced under the name of Big Johnson.

I fully agree, Division 6 has many cars that have been turned into race cars upon delivery by the dealership.
