The newest thing to hit is going to be an electric car. Time for NHRA to start structuring the different classes. EA/SA, EB/SA, EC/SA, ED/SA and so on.

U/SA. I tink I saw a blue Camaro go fast but was quiet

Wonder if they will be required to use NHRA Certified Fuels for the Battery Chargers ?

Thumbs up Re: Most Significant "Stocker" Technology

From my observations watching stockers leaving the starting line, it has a lot to do with rear suspensions. I'll go with Cal Tracs and similar devices.

Many of the things mentioned here have made many of the old Musclecars 2 seconds quicker than when I first raced Stock.

For the engine, the unlimited cam duration & spring pressures have obviously allowed much higher rpm & hp. The approved forged pistons & rods, & even aftermarket blocks, have allowed many engine combos to run 8000 rpm plus, & live. Don't know how many of the longer stroke engines could do that back in the old days.

The lighter legal auto trans have also lowered ET's some.

I also agree that the Cal Trac type bars have made the leaf spring cars quicker. Many of the 10 sec Stockers now need wheelie bars to help control the launch. So, when you know you're hooked to the track, you can then obviously make other changes that will lower ET.

I'm obviously no expert. These are just casual observations, comparing what I saw in the '70's, to what I see today.

Yeah, some guys can run quick without traction bars or soft compound tires.

Ironically both cars were originally owned and set up by Kenny Koonce.
