Question Electric Stocker

Now that the word is out that Chevrolet has developed a 750 HP stocker I am guessing they would like to see it in the guide. Thoughts..

Is NHRA or any of their tracks equipped to fight a runaway battery fire?

I would rather watch belt sander races than electric race cars.

I need the engine noise, vibrations and race gas smell.

There is a guy that races a Tesla at our friday night street ET program .
Runs 13's and is very competitve. Guess The air density doesn't affect him much... Maybe Elon Musk will work on getting Tesla's in the guide ??

I am not ready for electric cars in drag racing, but I guess they are coming. I know the development work has been done on the eCopo. That car is FAST. It is weird not to hear anything as they pass by you.

About a month ago, Evan Smith did a Facebook live tour of Watson Racing where the CJ's are built.. A good presentation, showing the phases of construction from the Body in white to the finished vehicle ready to be shipped. As he wandered around the facility, he did poke his camera into a smaller room where a technician was working on a lone blue CJ. Asking the the tech what he was working on, he muttered electric, and at that point Evan was encouraged to leave the room lol

ironically, the Facebook Link was good for maybe 20 mins after and then is wasn't available anymore........hmmmm

Lmao^^ Tesla in the guide. Good one!

Nooo they should not race against fossil fuel cars. Yes they have to get the car to work, yes they have to cut a light ,drive the stripe and track temp ... The technology in those vehicles are way beyond fossil. And so are the FS cars...JMHO! Pretty sure they have an Electric car association.
My vote, H... no!
Surprised a Fast Hybrid car has not shown up..

Stuff I never thoughgt I'd see at the strip:

Late model Cadillac CTS
Late model BMW
Volvo wagon (beat me)
Ford Fiesta ST (slicks on the front, guy tuning it with a smartphone in the lanes)
Two new VW beetles fender to fender stripe to stripe (1966 Milan Dragway)
Note: The race was so long that the fans had time to joke about it, make wagers and cheer winners before the win light.
Jody Lang in a Corvette.

Pacific Raceways has had charging stations in the pits for several years now.
Garlets has an electric dragster project.

Electrics are strange, but I welcome anything that keeps the sport going.

I read somewhere on the internet (so take it with a grain of salt) some tracks were banning electrics because they weren't equiped to handle a battery fire at this time.

Garlits has been working on a battery powered dragster for quite a while now and has been 7.20's at just under 190 mph! Needless to say, his goal is 200.
