Not sure if it's TOO late, Terry, but it took 30 years of neglect and free , non-stock goodies to screw it up to where we are today. It can't be fixed all at once .
How to do it? Haven't a clue. If I had to start somewhere, I'd suggest that NHRA put together a 5 year plan. (I know, sounds like a joke..NHRA long range plan). 1, Take 2/10's off the bottom, and move all the triggers at the top, 2/10's faster. In other words..New A/SA index, 10.80...New instant hit, 9.60. 2, AHFS in effect at all nat. and div. races. 3, NO, I said NO more enchancements, freebies, goodies, for FIVE (5) years. ( If you want roller lifters, no more tears..build a car that came with them.) 4, Keep tearin' em down, and look a little closer at cylinder heads and manifolds for grind and file marks ;-) Maybe not perfect, Terry, but at least it's a plan.

Sad both Danny and Jim ran 2.5 tenths better than their qualifying passes and were still off the gas. What a way to race.
Again Please our Reps address the AHFS this off season it's a joke right now. Barry |

Oh and while you're at it, please address all of the big $$$$ intake and head enhancement/manipulation going on.

"A communication system is of no value unless there is a critical mass of users"
In other words the time is NOW to reconstruct the AHFS. I have said this before; The NHRA should employ Dwight Southerland, Mark Yacavone and Billy Nees as consultants to fix this mess. |

Before you "reconstruct" the AHFS, the Tech Dept. has to "reconstruct" or repair or or realign just what it accepts as legal. And IMHO, if you have a set of 10k-20k "stock" heads and a 2k-5k "stock" intake, you're probably not legal.
