Randall, you are absolutely right and that is a real issue for most Racers. But we need to come up with some kind of a "happy medium" between tearing everybody down and the way tech, or the lack of it has been for the last few years

I date back to the '60s and winner inspections were a regular weekend ritual at Milan. You might want to teardown repeat winners, but not every winner. Inspection, yes, teardown, maybe.
A lot can be checked without pulling the engine apart. Cam lift and compression are heads on check items. So are intake and carb mods. That level of inspection would help a lot and not leave a car in a pile of parts. BTW I can't find post race inspections as a rule requirement. This is a Stock thread, but an issue I have with SS is FWD conversion cars running in a "street car based" class. Maybe require GT cars to use an engine available for the body used without regards to the model year. 68 Camero with any year Camero engine. 70 Mustang with any year Mustang engine. Cobalt with any year Cobalt engine...Or just move FWD conversion cars to Comp. They are more like an Altered anyway after all the tube chassis work.
