Well, Ron, I agree with you about one thing, it IS DEFINITELY GETTING REAL! But yes, let's put 10's of thousands of people in close proximity to one another, with the very real possibility that one (or more) of them is carrying the COVID-19 virus and hope no one else gets sick. Obviously, someone above our pay-grade made the decision that the public's health was more important, and the event was postponed. Since I assume you're a "senior", just like a lot of us here, you are part of the "high-risk" demographic they're trying to protect. We may never know how successful the postponement eventually turns out to be, but at the very least we'll know no one got infected there. Just one old man's opinion!

Our troops carried it back home to the US. 400000 people died which was more than our losses in WW1. It was world wide pandemic and millions died. Since then counties have collaborated to mitigate horrible epidemics. When the Coronavirus first broke out there was lag of wonderment what was happening. China lagged behind and then implemented very draconian quarantines. Most counties did their due diligence to contain the virus. Some with strict quarantining as well. The US got due warning, instead lagged behind and dismissed the seriousness other counties were experiencing. The known death rate is three times that of known Influenza and other pandemic illnesses. It is expected to go higher. Plus there is no antidote developed and that is a year away. After three-four months warning we are only doing targeted quarantines. Companies are sending employees home, public events and schools are being cancelled. Our blissful days are going to be interrupted to save lives. Unengaged Media and Central direction is fortunately being picked up and Lead up by others. All the US and International organizations who are experienced in this problem are coming together developing plans. Recommendations are being listened to in Hearings despite the pushback. Horribly the Agency designed to deal with pandemics was shut down in 2018. D Last edited by Dan Fahey; 03-12-2020 at 10:52 PM. |

Get a grip Dan, the world is not ending. Lets not get political here or Ken's going to rip us all. In early of 2009 to mid 2010 H1N1 killed 12,500 Americans. That administration waited nearly 7 months to call it a national emergency in the United States. Lets all be calm and not panic. 102 U.S. auto accident deaths every day just to put it in perspective.

To get a little bit back to the original topic I think NHRA is promoting Sportsman racing more than in the past.
A couple of examples would be the "Attention in the Pit's" Youtube shows and a Sportsman results email I saw recently. |

We knew what it was and had an antidote and got to the public. Matter was distribution and public awareness to get people vaccinated. Hence the outcome. An agency was added by previous administration to be more responsive to pandemics. I was was shut down in 2018. There is no antidote for this new strain. This new strain is not H1N1... None of what I said political, Just stated facts. Including a campaign to discredit the facts. You are correct the world is not ending today. Maybe for someone else! There is no need for a separate govt. run agency for everything. It's not financially responsible and it's not efficient. Quit with the political innuendos.
