Dave Young would have some info on that .Also we had to dial the MPH too.Take away the sand baggers
I raced my Jr Stocker in the ‘60s & 70s. Ran off records, no dialing, tenth under allowed. .011 under = break out. Never “dialed MPH”. Never heard of that one.

I think we discussed this a while back...
Who was last person to win a Nat. with a 14 second vehicle?
Mike Smith?
Tom Ward?
Larry Hill?

How many people won stock with a 15 + second vehicle? I know Mark and Billy. National events. Can people name who?

Don’t forget George Williams in that Vega panel wagon. He was Badazz...He won more than one national event....Did he run Z/s also ?.

Something not discussed is the issue of track prep,or lack of track prep in the 1960 to late 1979 or early 80,s time period.I raced brackets from 1976 to 1981,and track prep was min. at best.Thinking back to 7 inch slicks trying to hook up high horse power muscle cars had to be tough on drivers, even with early 9 inch firestones my 440 70 4 speed GTX , was searching for grip sometimes. I can see how slower stockers might have a small advantage. I would be interested in other opinions on this matter. Thanks Jimmy Hyink.
