Yes Chip; if they cut the qualified field lower than 128 they'd be turning away too many racer$. Indy is a cash cow for them with 160 quotas in the sportsman classes.

Indy without class is just another national event, no luster or incentive to go.

Absolutely no reason to go if they don’t have class eliminations. JMHO

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe they ran class in 1969 either? At least I know they did not in Super Stock.

We could have are own class eliminations. I know this sounds like a crazy concept, but when stock is called to the lanes have all of the same class arrive together. It will take a little work and a lot of cooperation, some will choose not to play and it will be their loss.

For me its going down the track with the same class car in the other lane. I want to go down with; Scott, Steve, Jim, Gary, Parker, John, Dave, and the rest that look in the mirror and say "I Got This".

128 field 160 entries you better have the wick turned up.

Class pairing by cards, four cars use two sets of cards. Each set would have matching numbers one red and one black.Like numbered race each other Red card gets lane choice.

Odd number of cars High card gets by, if a tie on high card a redraw from remaining cards for high card bye. It will take some work to have the fun we all came after.

Combo cars I think you are on your own.

If after two rounds of class, that is assuming we get two time trials. The higher qualified remaining would be class winner. Or we could make two time trials and call it a missed opportunity. What your thoughts, Lemons or Lemonade?

Everything will be unofficial, except the smile you get or thoughts of what could have been from running Class at Indy. The thoughts only last a lifetime!

Just a thought

Maybe they could run Indy class at the Bowling Green points meet the weekend before Indy. Kinda like they do here in D2 with running the Gators class runoff at the Baby Gators the weekend before. They don't have time for class at the big Gators anymore.

Agree Mike but I’m thinking if the Chicago National is the week before Indy I’m doubtful they’ll run BG the same weekend as Chicago...but who knows.
