Running a 30x9R15. How many passes are the slicks
good for? Do they just start dropping 60ft ? Have problem of hooking for 3 or 4 passes then out of The blue the car will just blow the tires off at the hit. Thanks. David |

I run a 30.0-10.5/15 Hoosier, and I have found the sidewall will go away before the tread surface is gone. I had a set at 45 runs that would not hook off the line, just spun. Mounted a new set and the car was fine. The set I have on now has about 60 runs on, and last time out the 60 ft. was very consistent in some very bad air. I rotate them side to side at 25 runs. The car is 3150 lbs. and I hit the tires pretty hard, so I guess they don't last as long.

We have run the 9 inch Hoosier for the last 6-7 years. We get 75-80 runs out of a set. Other folks claim to get 150 runs. We have tried very short burnouts, but that did not change the tire life for us.
Our 60 foot times remain the same throughout the life of the tire. On one set of tires we ran them a bit too long. After a pass there was a one inch wide stripe of cord showing in the middle of the tire. OOPS! 60 foot time on that run was same as before. For reference our car runs 11.0s with mid 1.40 60 foot times.

Dragpak when it had the auto, I think I got it up to 75-80 runs, took a set or two to learn to do a 1-2-3 done burnout. Re the 3-4 then blow tires loose, well it did it, but it was leaking water from a hose clamp. Good luck Don't know how heavy your car is, but if you are on the edge with a lot of tire pressure, that could be an issue with your blowing them loose issue as well. On the truck I run 21.5 which is a soft setting for it. I have run as high as 25.5, but have spun at the pressure as well, have never spun at 21.5, unless track was wet. Eric
