They had 3 PRT's Power Recovery Turbines each rated 150HP that fed the power directly back into the crankshaft using a reduction gear setup. They grouped 6 of the 18 cylinders together so the exhaust of 6 cylinders powered each of the 3 PRT's. We even had an R-3350 with a Chevrolet Bow-Tie build plate. Back then my rating was AD(R) 2 with the R standing for Recips. Punched a lot of holes in a lot of clouds.
