I would think with this change the minimum weight would be the SSGT min. However in reality you could not get there with all cars. If I were to pick a number for legal weight reduction I would probably target 750 pounds out as a stretch target.
This change in my opinion has removed the added complexity of GT and turned GT into if you can think it you can build it. I also think with the FWD conversion cars that Front clip / Suspension mods be opened up for all GT Cars or clearly defined most FWD cars have the aero advantage lets not enhance that unless it is the intent. But hey what do I know I'm a Pontiac racer Hmmmm Solstice with a RA 400.... Happy Holidays |

Would this matter?
I'm looking at a 2015 rulebook OBTW. In General Regulations under 4:2 Ballast, at the bottom of the paragraph,"Maximum amount of removable and/or permanent ballast, unless otherwise stated under Class Requirements, is 500 pounds. Cars running 8.49 and quicker are limited to 250 pounds maximum, per SFI chassis specification.".

Easy to add weight to any car legally, start by putting everything back in you ripped out trying to lighten it. When I had my Mustang fox body had to carry over 500 lbs. of ballast to run H/FIA. Did it and was never questioned about anything being illegal.

With the newer model cars (2000 and up) weighing so much and the ability to remove so much emission and safety equipment out, it is common to being able to lighten the car 700 pounds or more without going to drastic measures. This should be taken into consideration.

The point that I'm trying to make is that this is a "General Regulation". This applies to everybody no matter what Eliminator you're in. Now what I want to know is is this a blanket NHRA rule or is it an SFI thing and does it apply to us or NHRA as a whole?
