Re: Democratic Rule
President Donald Trump on Monday declared an emergency for the District of Columbia through Jan. 24, arising from the Jan. 20 inauguration of Joe Biden.
A release from the White House said: "The President’s action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act, to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in the District of Columbia." It continued: "Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency. Emergency protective measures, limited to direct Federal assistance, will be provided at 100 percent Federal funding." Over the weekend, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser sent a letter to Trump asking for the declaration, in hopes of freeing up more funding for the inauguration's security as safety concerns rise in the aftermath of last Wednesday's violent siege at the Capitol. "In light of the attack on the Capitol and intelligence suggesting further violence is likely during the Inaugural period, my administration has reevaluated our preparedness posture for the Inauguration, including requesting the extension of DC National Guard support through January 24, 2021," Bowser wrote in her letter. Bowser said she felt the plans and resources assigned to the inauguration were inadequate, particularly given the current high level of unrest. The FBI has issued a warning saying there's chatter about violent assaults on capitols in all 50 states, and disruption to Biden's swearing-in. Biden has indicated he intends to proceed with the inaugural — already streamlined and largely virtual because of the pandemic — despite the violence at the Capitol. Trump won't be attending, but Vice President Mike Pence will. |

First off, I can give you the budget for the VA all the way back to it’s founding, 1940. The budget is controlled by Congress and it has increased by 200% from 1940 to 2013. The program that I assume Randy’s friend that has cancer needs to be treated for by an oncologist. Under the CHOICE program that is monitored by the VA Community Health Group and paid for by TriWest would be a program worth looking into, it is for people that would live more then 50 miles from a VA facility. This program is over 7 years old and was recently extended in 2019. But the down to it is it has not been communicated well to Vets, most are not aware it exists and furthermore the use of private sector healthcare provider is expensive. Let’s do a little homework on Mr. Wilkie. He has been asked to be dismissed by every Veteran’s Advocacy group in the country. Last edited by Eddies66; 01-12-2021 at 10:23 AM. |

What we also get is that throwing money at a problem does nothing but make the problem worse especially when you have people that spend like a drunken sailor and have the same level of accountability as that drunken sailor. You're right the VA's perfect and always has been when democrats are involved and the only thing Trump did was destroy it. Every time I see advocacy groups involved in anything I see nothing but complaints and hear that the only solution to everything is more money. |

The last thing the VA needed was someone with years of hospital management experience. Trump is a businessman. He applied what he learned in business to just about everything. Good things happening and results occurred but apparently people's feelings were more important to the left than getting the county on track including the VA. |
