Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals Presented by Pennzoil to be contested on May 21-23 minus Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, and Super Gas.
“It’s a difficult decision to make for our sportsman racing community but unfortunately we are unable to safely accommodate adequate pit parking in the majority of our designated sportsman lots,” said track general manager Seth Angel. “Mother Nature has forced our hand and we do not want to subject racers to subpar conditions at the risk of damaging their equipment and jeopardizing their safety.” Complete release on NHRAracer 👇👇 https://bit.ly/HoustonNotice

When you don’t invest money in your facilities this is what happens. Houston use to be one of the premier race tracks in the country. Lack of investment was evident 15 years ago.

Yes they do own a paving company, always wondered why they would not use some of their off spec material it fill up the sponge. They track was built out in a marsh field. Like Larry Hill said it is sad that they never have put resources back into the track for improvements. I always attend their national events, years ago they had to stop the event because they had a weeper in the right lane, the tide would come up and come up through the weepers in the track. They would get the jet dryer out and blow the moister out of the weepers and resume the event.

Coming down hard here now...
Seems as though I remember more than once I've wallowed in mud trying to get out of there... Last edited by L.Fite; 05-18-2021 at 11:45 PM. |

You can't just dump asphalt and smear it around... There is a lot of prep and stabilization work to do it, and make it last... Especially with the water table as high as it is there... Maybe if they had done a little each year over time it would have been possible... I fear it's too late for that now... |
