Steve Stasko is 100 percent accurate. The Navistar engine family was a complete and total failure. Before Navistar finally yielded to pressure from unhappy dealers and FURIOUS customer fleets and individual owners, they had thousands of dead trucks scattered all across the country, and for the longest time, the failed EGR coolers on those trucks were replaced with service parts that simply failed again. It was a nightmare.
