When NHRA noticed the light turnout for the other categories, they should have increased the quota for the stockers at the last minute. D1 and D3 are a haven for competitive stockers.

I don't think I could quit. I 've done this most of my life ( silly me ) ! I would probably still race the closest Stk/ SS Association races and if they get the I/8 Mile Deal going here on Long Island would probably bracket race and continue testing. Being German & Irish thickheadedness runs deep! |

I could be wrong, but I see NHRA as the only thing that keeps the associations as being a viable alternative for S/SS racing. If NHRA killed their program, there would be no more std for the class cars, slowly turning it into a NSS style racing.
I love the ECSSA series, but its based off of real NHRA class racing, and only allows real cars to compete. And 90% of the cars if not more than that are the same cars you race at divisionals in div1. I know everyone claims their association is as good as the real deal, but I hear other say same really are not. I dont feel NHRA will pull the plug on class racing in any distant future. I've heard for 20 years that it will be gone sooner than later. If it did, I'm not sure what I would do. My guess is it will last longer than I have to worry about it.

Without us, HOW would they pay the Pro’s? Sponsor money is at an all time low. It’s not like we’ve had a race purse raise or enhancement in what, ten years or more?
I’d grab all my race buddies and go hunting and fishing! SIMPLE for me. |

Fear not CLASS RACERS, they are not dropping us anytime soon. SOMEONE has to pay the bills and that would be us. Where else could they muster up enough racers to shell out hundreds of $$ for entry fees, .....AND run for peanuts ????? The high dollar ( ) racers are WAY too smart for that.....

I don't think sportsman entries have anything to do with the purses. I believe they are paid by Camping World just as the sportsman purses are paid by Lucas. I think that the sportsman entries are used to pay for the race itself, payroll, etc. That's the main reason NHRA needs us at national events.
