They booked 3 hours of live TV coverage on Sunday at noon central (11AM EST ) on Fox TV. There must have been some serious agony in the planning room.

Is it true that NHRA buys the TV time block on Fox TV, like an infomercial?
Are there other motorsports that get live TV time this way?
Is the live TV show really this important?
Yes, I believe live TV is important. NHRA sells advertising for the live TV if they buy the TV time as stated. If you own that time, you only own that time.
I know people who are Drag race fans who watch all the cable TV coverage for these races. Advertisers don't want to hear you killed TV time to give everyone qualifying runs in my opinion.

Nascar for years would change their practice and qualifying schedule because of rain. Sometimes lining a field up by points with no track time. These are professional teams. They need to have there program together on what little time they get to qualify.

Don't forget..The pros have to get done today and move their road show to Maple Grove for next weekend. I would guess that if they're going to race on Labor Day next year, that MG won't be the following weekend.

610 miles, 9 hrs 15 min according to maps.

Leave Indy Monday night, pull into the Grove Tuesday morning.

I am sure the pro teams with hired professional truck drivers can make that trip overnight with ease.

I agree that the teams should be ready to race, but giving them one shot at the track is no way to treat them. What is Nascar's biggest race? The Daytona 500? They have speedweeks, pole qualifying, qualifying races, , and practice sessions, etc. Maybe NHRA needs to put a little more effort and leave some room on both ends of the schedule for necessary changes.

That works if you don't include breakdown and setup time Can't break down until they are finished racing.on Monday.

They announced that next year they will race on Monday again,. So maybe this is a one year thing.
Again, as sportsman racers, we have to adapt to schedule changes, they need to and should be able to.

The line of spectator cars coming into the race reminds me of the movie "field of dreams". Great to see. NHRA has to feel pretty good to have the support back.
