Anyone have experience with a spragless converter? I'm looking at an 8 inch from Broader Performance and have that option. Car is a 68 Mustang 302 with N351 heads and C4. SS/CS legal but run in bracket. 4:29 gears (new gears) 26 in tire for now. Ran to 7000 really fast on it's only pass last year. Want to shift at 6000-6500.

How much will I pick up, do you reckon if I change to a sprag converter?

I have a 3200 lb 23 degree sbc 3.875 stroke 4.185 bore with a set of out of the box Brodix T1 heads, I did change the springs before bolting them on the engine. 10 x 28 bias tire. All steel roll up windows and chrome bumpers. It has been 1.27 60 ft and runs in the 5's 1/8. Powerglide transmission.

The farther you go down track, the worse the problem becomes with a spragless. The stator is just in the way.

Torque converters are like Pro Stock carbs, you can have two identical, one is faster than the other.

This goes for sprag converters too.

I've had sprag converters in this car, one actually ran about the same et as my best spragless. Almost.

You just got a hold of a dud, for a head to head with a sprag converter which works decent. I've had a couple duds over the years sprag and spragless. It didn't tell me they're all duds.

It's pretty apparent I have a fast spragless converter. I had a fast TCI sprag converter years ago, I should've kept and made spragless.
