Wish Joe could have pulled it off with him being in such a good position to do the double just one month ago but have to hand it to Jerry for making such a charge to take it. As much as anything I’ll remember the effort by Todd and Cooter to make such serious challenges.

I can’t argue with the logic of making a serious run early in the season but the drama of races like this make it so much more entertaining. Guess I would be afraid they would institute some sort of “countdown” format BS but of course since NHRA could give a crap about the sportsman crowns I think we’re safe. The dedication, persistence and skill required to compete at such high levels is inspiring.
