Last year the Sportnationals in Columbus had a good turnout of 143 cars in Stock. What do you think it will have this year? Also it would be nice to see that pre entry discount come back like we had a few years ago to ease the pain at the pump a little.

I'm driving to work this morning,I turn on CNN,and they said this may be the best economy ever.
So I guess 205 cars with a .997 under bump. And no need for any discounts. |

Just look at Norwalk this past weekend. 74 Stockers, 109 last year. And perfect weather.
I don’t think there will be any cars that won’t qualify. |

Most likely the car counts will be down at these types of events for a while due to several reasons.
1. High fuel cost 2. Parts availability to keep cars running and built 3. economy in general. High cost of everything and less disposable income to spend on racing and travel. 4. People just holding back and not spending money being unsure of the future National events will still fill due to the low quota numbers. There are enough people with enough money to keep those fields full no matter the costs. Right now the economy is still Ok in some areas. Construction is still busy here in Florida. We are red state with a good governor so we have faired better than most. The economy is still riding on Trumps coat tails for the short term. High costs and inflation will be the killer.

I think Norwalk is a bad judgement, I know a lot of racers loved the back to back last year of Norwalk D3 race then National (Or Vice Verses) but, you also had Epping National that took some of the D1 regs who might have made the trip and also D5 in Brainard. It's always tough to write a schedule in November not knowing what the world will be like in 7 months. I think people are looking long and hard at best bang for their buck, for 1 tow how many races can I get out of it and can I come close to breaking even or not getting hit too hard when I sit down and look at expenses.

My gut says there will be more than 100...but probably not a full field for stock.
