Things are not looking good for us west coast racers for sure. And I am in the middle of building a new car for .90 stuff.....ugh..I do recall LVMS having alot of races last time we had issues with Wildhorse and Fontana, but with Bakersfield finally giving a divisional a shot and maybe Sonoma could come back but who knows...

Plenty of sun shine and no where to play. The Bakersfield double header is a game changer for division 7 as far as the divisional chase. I hope it is a great success. There was talk about a Dragstrip being built in Price, Utah. I think it fell through. Tucson is a long haul for most and it never got enough cars to keep it going. I'm sure someone here knows why Sonoma isn't running divisional races. I have no clue. Scheduling Fallon in June never works. This weekend's high of 98 with 25mph winds. The highlight would be arguing with a rattle snake. hydrate!! I like a challenge but a bit much from the fun factor.

What’s going to happen has already happened.
We got Bakersfield thank god! If not then the close race is Vegas (10-11 hours) for the Central/ Bay Area / Valley guys. Not to mention Division 6 guys..That’s quite the commute! Have ya driven speed bump I 5 lately? My car will be done for Sonoma but do I want to support it given the hand we were dealt? Probably not. My choice. I’m sure it will not make any difference. Nothing said about 2023 div races yet . Lost Wild Horse. Lost Fontana. Lost Sonoma this year. Next year?? No Sac divisional’s? No Redding divisional’s? Huge improvements there. Is it big enough? Raceless in California. |

I think what is going in Redding is really a great thing, they have put a lot work into making it a great place to race.

Barry you know that if Bakersfield could somehow come alive and support the entire sport instead of just their nostalgia niche and a couple of rice rocket races to compliment their $300 TNT days, they would become the center of activity for the western US. The LA guys, or at least many of them will come over the hill for a good program and so will the Bay Area racers. Sacto is not really a viable option and Sonoma just doesn't seem to have their heart in it. Vegas is a tough haul for the northern group but an awesome place to race. We now find ourselves there at least 5 times per year even if we do no bracket racing.
I would love to see two 2day divisionals at Bakersfield.....which I know will never happen. That with the Vegas calendar and a couple out of division weekends(Woodburn, Seattle) should keep us busy enough to keep the rust off the cylinder walls. If Redding could somehow be pulled into the mix it would just be icing on the cake. |

Mark,
If NHRA would back down on their charges a bit Bako might come on board more. The track is a business and it isn't there just to support NHRA.

I'm hoping and praying that something will change and that it'll be able to stay alive....I've seen the area they're wanting the overpass to expand (Queen Creek Road), and it chaps my hide that south of that road is a bunch of open space that could easilly be used instead of messing up the facility for their lousy ramp expansion! I've been told that the proposed ramp could be built without needing to shut down the strip, and from what I saw, if they closed anything it should only be the off-road facility!
Moreover, I hope Tucson will recover from their scheduling miscue from last fall, and get back on board for us Arizona class racers sake? Glad I have my Colorado even more so now, as Bandimere's is where I'm heading next week for my next two races, and next year, I may have to start traveling up to D6 tracks for one-two of their races? Hopefully Matt and Brad Hawk will be able to get something together for the Arizona Stock/Super Stock Association in October possibly the weekend prior to the Vegas Fall Nationals?
