Class Racer Nationals Comment
I'm a newbie here folks and have been out of racing for close to 30 years. We have been sorting out a new car over the past few months, with some challenges of course, and this weekend's Class Racer Nationals was my first time in eliminations with only 12 runs under my belt. Perhaps I could have chosen a less challenging race for my first. (I'm still claiming rookie status, or maybe just using that as an excuse). I wanted to give a big thank you to John Warehime, whom I never met before Saturday, for jumping in and helping me with parts and assistance in fixing a 1st round ignition issue while pitted next to us. Unfortunately, I had a starter failure before 1st round Sunday that we could not fix, so that ended our weekend.
Sorry for being long winded, but this event reminded me of why I so loved this sport and decided to get back into it at my ripe old age. The comraderies and friendships that racers share is priceless and something that I cherished back in the 80s and 90s when I was seriously in to racing. Hopefully along the way, new ones will be established.
Thanks to Ken, Tim and the Fletcher family for organizing and putting on this event and congrats to all winners. Even with the issues we faced with the car, we had a great time and we are already looking forward to next year!
