Here's a pic of a Toploader 1/2 slider that i added TKO faceplate parts to 2nd gear using the same method. This pic shows the parted off TKO slider piece sitting on top of the Toploader slider...


Thanks for your input. I have a better idea why this works now, compared to the old stuff.

I would imagine you could use some Gforce .5 degree parts to do the same, but you would need some pretty robust shift forks/rails/etc if you plan to jerk your transaxle into the next gear like a G101A without using the clutch pedal.

I'm going to assume you need the beefed up forks, rails, etc to pull it out of the lower gear. It's going into the next gear, without a doubt, the way I see it.
I wonder if an additive , like maybe teflon would lower the friction on the sides of the gear lugs? Once you eliminate the brass or friction face of the blocking rings, I don't know what it would hurt in short (1/4 mi.) bursts.
