Ya know, I'm not privy to the goings-on between the DD and the track owner when it comes to putting on a Div. Event and it's none of my business. BUT, I can't imagine the new owners of M.G. not wanting to jump at the chance to show off their improvements by having another event. And connecting it to "The Dutch" would almost guarantee a HUGE car count. The Division Office being "right around the corner" from M.G. can't be a bad thing either!

(hint, hint)

There is a lot of behind-the-scenes costs that go on for a Divisional that the tracks endure and are in the hole well before a car even comes through the ticket booth, most of us as racers don't know about what goes into it, so when we just say "move the race to this event, it's not that easy". I know way more then I should being a promoter but, I talk to 3-4 track owners a year when doing a schedule and they all vent to me and are all on the same page about the LODRS events, they honestly don't make money on it if they can't put people in the stands. Epping and Norwalk do a great job on packing the place so maybe they should give classes to all the tracks. Have to remember MG has new owners who have already knocked it out of the park with a very few events but, also have lost their butts on others....one being the May LODRS was down like 20-25% according to KK. This is still the old owners' schedule; they haven't even put their spin on things for 2023 as they bought the place in April 2022 and the schedule was already done and I'll be honest a Lucas Race might not be in the future schedule for MG. These track owners are businesspeople, and they have to make $$$$ and the Lucas events aren't high on the money tree when you can host a Test & Tune with no paybacks, an Import Event that draws thousands of fans or do Track rentals where they are guaranteed an amount of $$$ with no paybacks.

Also, I do believe Dave did everything he could to reschedule this event....why they waited an additional 24 hours to cancel cause I'm sure he was waiting on tracks to call him back, I'll be honest I was in talks with a track owner to move my .90 finale if Atco became the place to go next weekend. Like I said D1 is getting a rash of s--- over on FB right now about their decision but, I think if you were in the office (i wasn't) the past two days with Dave and his team, I don't think he just sat back and didn't try everything in his power to find an alternative and after Oct 31st, theirs a position open for someone to make those calls now.

Wow, I thought this was a thread about Hurricane Ian. People will be dying in my state very shortly and you guys have turned a thoughtful thread into a "Does anybody know how this will affect the race in Virginia NEXT YEAR"!! Shame on you. I thought we were better than that. Start another thread if that is all you want to think about. I can tell you this will affect the race in Orlando and Bradenton for sure. How do you think Peter Noriega is doing in Miami right about now? Jim Bailey and 100s other racers and their families? 6 very destructive tornadoes spawned by this storm so far. 155 MPH winds will be hitting us soon. This is a cat 5 storm guys and it won't be fun here for a long time. How about saying a prayer for your fellow racers. Wind and rain is picking up here and I have more important things to worry about than some of you missing a race or two. I am directly in the path. The song keeps running through my head "For those about to die, we salute you". Jim

As stated above, we should be thinking and praying for ALL the people in the path of Ian. This storm will effect thousands and thousands of people. I have family traveling in the area north of Florida right now. They are safe, for now, but hope they retreat to the west soon. I also have 2 friends (a young couple) on their delayed honeymoon at Disney World. I pray that they, along with everyone else, get out safely or bunker down somewhere and make it through this storm.

MY PRAYER IS FOR ALL TO BE SAFE AND LIVE THROUGH THIS.

Update on my family traveling. They are in Johnson City, Tennessee. That is NW of Charlotte North Carolina which is in the projected path of Ian.

PDRA has announced the cancellation of their event at Galot this weekend due to the hurricane. NEOPMA is still on for their co-headling event at MIR, but they are going to be hit by the same weather and I'd expect them to cancel as well.

Everyone stay safe.

I am here in the Tampa Bay Area. Yesterday we were right in the Bulls Eye for land fall. I did my hurricane prep. Boarded up windows gathered water and food got gas for cars trucks and generators. Plans were made to evacuate to higher ground with our vehicles and toter this morning before the storm hit.
When I woke up this morning the path of the storm had shifted to the south enough to spare us. We dodged a huge bullet.
Yesterday I had resigned myself that I probably would not have anything left to come home too. Between the crushing wind and storm surge of a cat 4 hurricane I would have lost everything. We are counting our blessings right now. We are still getting tropical storm force winds here and there is damage and power outages. There are lots of racers here in the SW Florida area and many will be affected. Keep them in your thoughts.

Jim,

My apologies, it was definitely not the intent of my posts to defer the serious situation at hand. I have seen and spoken to a few people who have said their whole neighborhood is gone and some who just had rain and wind....very crazy on how these storms work. Prayers to all the racing community who calls Florida their home or have "Snowbird" homes down in those areas affected.

It was just getting frustrating trying to make people understand that it's just not that easy to move an event. A lot of behind the door talk that happens that us as racers will never see or hear about and it, we did, our heads might explode. So my apologies and I hope you and your family are safe.
