Eddy,
Its another one of those have to have toys for the guys who have everything.. Its like having someone writing down everyone's time slips and download them on your telephone/computers for safe keeping... I think you should buy two of them incase one breaks...Nothing against CrewChief-Pro, but there are more important things to the majority of racers than the I-card , I have to agree with Ed on this one.. How about Payouts, Entery Fees, Round-monies, better Pit Spots, Fuel costs,Two-day races,etc..? What does everyone else think is important to Stock + SuperStock racers..... Dave,

I can see how the iCard can be a neat device, but I hardly see why it is such a high priority for people who don't sell the equipment. There are a number of issues involving sportsman racing that should take much higher priority than a toy.

One may not want to move forward and get the latest part, but let's not move backwards. How much money has been spent on stocker cams, disc brakes, aftermarket pistons, aftermarket rods, electric water pumps, electric fans, stainless valves, transmissions, and other parts? What if they were all disallowed? If a person does not see the value in a part then do not use it, but to do away with the part once people have spent money is just plain wrong.
Change, any change, should be very carefully considered before allowing it, and once it is allowed, it should not be disallowed unless it is of great detriment to the sport. There are racers out there who do not embrace change and wish to remain NHRA Stock Eliminator pure (no put down meant, or implied, just stating a fact), and when they do well it makes us all feel good. |

Bill,
I don't disagree with your point, but in times when many racers are thinking about whether they can afford to go to a race on not with all the fuel and other expenses.. I-cards are not high on the list.. We need to remember that it should be good for the majority of racers and not just a few.. There are many more important things to help racers today than an I-card, again nothing against Crew Cheif Pro who sell them.. With all the things we should be discussing to help racers who can't afford to buy fuel and attend races, we are talking about an I-card.. Maybe NHRA could get a fixed price on racing fuel for sportsmen racers at National events, one or two day divisional races, lowering entry fees, more round monies, find better insurance deals, inforce the current rules, many more small things can be done to help.... Bill, I think the Bristol race is a good example of whats coming, less than 50% in Stock.. Thats what we should be thinking about, not I- cards.. Hey maybe I am wrong and racers care more about having and I-card than going to the races... just the way it is... Dave,

Dave makes a good point. There are many things that NHRA could do to reduce the cost of racing without costing themselves anything.
For example, we tried a late entry into St Louis, but they changed their "procedure" from last year on trying to enter. It seems you only have 1 hour after all the withdrawals on Monday night to enter the race, then the drop down menu disappears. Not even an act of congress can over-ride that drop down menu closure. Stacy asked if the bureaucracy was more important than his "cash money smack down on the barrel head" in this down turned economy. She laughed, said "no", but he still wasn't getting in. Don't drill for oil, refuse nuclear power, then complain about gas prices and global warming. Somehow it all seems illogical, but similarly consistent.
