Entry Fee's and Ticket Prices
Welcome to Capitalism. As Gordan Kecko said, " Greed is Good!". Hamilton should have been shot by Aron Burr about 20 years earlier.

Re: Entry Fee's and Ticket Prices
Hi Sarge! I'm not gonna dig out my history books to try and understand the Hamilton/Burr comment but I'd like to comment on the Entry Fee subject.
In my discussions with young people and potential Racers who have followed my "Dime Rockets" over the years I've generally found that the price of building a Stocker isn't really the deciding factor in going racing. It's the cost of going to (time-off), getting to (truck, trailer, fuel, accommodations) and entering the races that gets to be the main issue. I can say from experience that to go to the closer races I'm going to spend $600-700 for the weekend and $900-1000 for an "away" race. And that's not even considering the "Doubles". I guess that there's just no "Entry Level" NHRA racing to be had anymore. Oh, this thread should probably be in S/SS, not Tech.

Supply and demand, seems to work. I see people searching for entries so there must be demand, with demand I wouldn't expect prices to drop.

I have a quote from a movie that seems to fit, from the movie deliverance “squeal like a pig“ I think we all know what that means

Re: Entry Fee's and Ticket Prices
Granted but it was interesting to see the Chicago National close below the quotas for our classes in spite of a favorable weather forecast. Would not be surprised if quotas aren’t reduced more next year to artificially keep demand up and make way for more “Pro” and exhibition classes.

Re: Entry Fee's and Ticket Prices
At the Rte 66 event, racers must have withdrawn at the last moment, not allowing people to enter before the cut off time.

Re: Entry Fee's and Ticket Prices
Dyno, that's exactly what happened. A lot of times it's the same people.
NHRA has to back up withdrawal dates by a week, or forfeiture of entry fee. A few less Racer's get to enjoy the event, but next year when they assign quotas, we will hear, well Stock and Super Stock didn't even fill last year. And before the replies start, NO, I'm not putting ideas in NHRA's head about how to keep more of our money. They thought of this a long time ago, just thought they would get too much pushback on it.
