The first national event I ever went to was Indy in 1966. It was exciting to see cars I'd only seen from the magazines.
But seeing "national record holder" painted on was another level. I was looking at the king of the hill, the best of the best, and someone who knew what they were doing. And nobody was on the brakes at the finish line, ever - with more than a few running out the speed trap. I still have that feeling that has stayed with me all these years. Shame I seldom see that on cars (stickered, not painted) and things have been manipulated so it doesn't matter much any more. |

Back in the day roaming the pits when you would pass a car with national record holder followed by multiple years painted on you knew you was looking at something special.

Alright everybody it's that time of year for the Draginsights.com National Records to be showcased in National Dragster. If you or someone you know has set a record this year, please post the Name, Class, Car (Make/Model/CI/ADV HP) and ET and MPH, and what track it was set at. I need to have it done by end of this week. Be sure to thank Alicia Anderson and sign up for your free DragInsights membership to check out your stats. Also thank you to the handful of crowd funders who also made this possible. Happy Thanksgiving. New records I am doublechecking:

-1 for Guy Desjardins with his SS/EA 1967 Camaro, 396 c.i./375 h.p.
-1 for Venice Perno with his SS/CS 2010 Mustang, 308 c.i. Some research must be done here, because I don't have any details regarding the E.T. and MPH. Those records were set at the Napierville National Open Series event (18-21 July 2024) Last edited by Charles Stewart; 11-28-2024 at 05:10 PM. Reason: more information |

Thank you Charles. Is Guy Desjardins 375hp or 325hp? I thought he was 325. I have a 9.06 @ 144.72mph for him and for Venice Perno I have 9.32 @ 141.86mph from that day.

Going once, going twice, I'm going with a 1960 Kingswood 283/230hp for Captain Jack and 1979 Malibu 305/160hp for Mike Taylor.
