This works absolutely great until organized theft/crime is involved. Think Gators/Charlotte in the 2000's. An organized ring just waited till a class was called and then hit every rig, truck, motorhome, and trailer that was open. They feasted until one person was caught at the Gators, and RH caught one in his MH @ Charlotte. This was just down from where we parked. RH allegedly beat the perp in a cage match (inside the MH). Then threw the perp out of the front entrance. Somehow the perps hand ended up under the front wheel of the MH (The wheel was 2-3 inches off the ground just prior to his hand being stuck under the wheel). Police could not come to a conclusion as to how the perps hand got in the position it was in. NHRA then started mixing the parking so entire sections of the pits would not be vacant when classes were called. Bill |

My friend Peter from Sweden tells me at their races pit spots are assigned in advance to each racer. They ask the size of your rig and who you would like to pit next too. When you get to the track on the designated day there is no stacking, you simply drive in straight to your designated pit spot. Best of all, every pit spot has electrical hook ups.

I may be wrong...but that is what track/NHRA management told me "back in the day". |

Hey NHRA you could place a camp host on site and open the pit parking as an RV park on the off days for travers passing through or visitors to the area. Generate some extra income when the track is not in use.

Here in Oz at national events and my local track rounds it is always designated . You are sometimes asked how much space/area your trailer etc needs and you can ask to be pitted with specified racers .
