Oh, and the most ingenious looking beam breaker I have found so far was a very well designed centered right below the bumper tow hook...Dual purpose as it could actually also be used to tow or winch the car (though the owner and driver said when questioned it's number
1 purpose was beam breaking at the top
end), we both had a laugh as he had to
re-strengthen it to use it to winch the car
with it about a year after the initial install.

Every car's front ends are different front bumper to leading edge of front tire as is tire circumference, front axle setback, etc. And the starting line beams are 3" off the ground but finish line beams are 6" off the ground. Some break the beams with the front end, some headers, some oil pan, some tires. Others front end parts (Steering gear and A-Arms)...brackets, cords or hoses hung just right also work. Not for me, but for others I have noted.

When you look for them you will find many, talk to those that have them as it is a fun topic.

So in effect you are running less than 1320 feet, and based on the car / model different ones will run a different length.

Damn, I was there for 10 days and never knew any of this was going on, including the check for blinders. I've got to start getting out of the motor home more.

After doing some of the .90 wars for a few years you learn to check the front end of cars you?re not familiar with so for me this is just part of racing. I have a much bigger issue with arbitrary rules put in place by a vocal minority from the NHRA “chosen”, such as no blinders and air shifters in Stock. Blatant favoritism is just one of my “buttons”, and it downplays the role of the SRAC.
