Get together and run Class like Gaffney does the AA shootout. 30 pounds under the maximum and self police it. That gets 95% down to 95 under.

As much as I like this idea, the effects are more harsh on combinations with lower torque to hp ratios like the NA cobra jets.

If IHRA is smart, they will announce their Columbus race (a twin to the first race) which is a week after Indy, will include Class eliminations and of course will not include AHFS, which they don't do anyway...And attach some type of nice payout for class winners. 500 bucks or something. I know it would be somewhat more expense, but they would put a hurt on Indy.

Not likely I will ever go to Indy, but the fact this is going to turn into the slam
On the brakes Nationals sucks, I love to see everyone get after it. We have a combo that will never go 1 under and got our *** handed to us in two heads up races at Woodburn, that is our issue picking the combo we have. And let me tell you we work hard, Steve Wann is killing himself to help us work on the combo, but it is what it is. No hard feelings to the guys who are faster. I have one class win in 19yrs and he went red but that?s what I have. One time a year the guys should get to show off, just my two cents, John

There has to be a reason NHRA changed Indy to a AHFS race. Is it too much negative feedback from the non qualifying cars ? Will it cause the real quick group of cars to get HP? Maybe a few. Smart racers know how to keep the average down.

I seem to recall that back in the 70's, the Mopar factory guys did something like that. They had a sperate race at another track to predetermine who would win class so they wouldn't get dinged when they ran class at Indy.
