Well, didn?t see this coming, very disappointing. Wish we would have known this a few months ago, it would have freed up a lot of weekends we devoted to working in the shop, testing and dyno time.
Coming from a ProStock background, no AHFS at Indy made sense to me, Its our most prestigious race of the year. Bust your butt, work hard, bring the best that you have, hit the tree and let it eat, may the best man win. I hope they look at again and reconsider. |

soooo what idiot derives a system that penalizes forever ONE run ??
when Farmer was in charge hed casually tell you "you been runnning real good last 3-4 races we gonna move you up a class > personal information, fair assesment and it was ok .... no one liked it but it was fair now spend $100g (thanks to nhra) and one class final run and shazaam your combo is no longer killer AHFS > automatic help for slugs cannot will not EVER work we control the input data captain out > .... ill be drinking beer and tanning at the downing plantation at indy

With the number of cars, Class Eliminations was cool. Cars that never showed their hand let it all out at Indy. I was going to post one of those "I need a spot at Indy" threads but now I am not that excited about going. I'll be there but probably not racing. Robin

I still stand by what I said when I was at Indy last, 2 years ago:
I wish there was a good solution to the AHFS problem because I understand the arguments against turning it off. But there's something to be said when Indy consists of 300 of the baddest S/SS cars in the country - and every one of them has the loud pedal welded to the floor. To play devil's advocate, isn't it even more boring when every race is a battle to see who can get closest to -0.999 under the index? |

This time of year, is always fun reading about S/SS indexes and AHFS. How to fix it? what is right, etc. AHFS was made to create a level playing field, which cannot be achieved when most engines are not even legal. Before you start with the BS "I am legal, I just work harder" My cars run -.50 to-.70 under. I know what it takes to go -1.00, I choose not to spend the $. My choice, no complaints.
Complaining sounds ridiculous.

Just maybe NHRA is trying to level out the field , the soul has been out of control for years now with those that are willing to spend endless amounts of money to push the rules way beyond the legal limits . I guess it's what one thinks about how seizing control of class racing ,will it help class racing to continue or die because of cost

Yes, and also Junior Dragturds in an adult show have no buisness being there too.
