Greetings, I am one of those import sport compacts that will be hopefully competing next year in the new classes announced by NHRA in the last couple days. I have sent a email to NHRA but only received a generic response on waiting until the rule book comes out or a update posted. I am attempting to get a jump start on whatever changes I need to complete for the 09 season. I hope I don't encounter the usual comments about imports, rice ect. I enjoy racing and just want to continue racing no matter what the series may be.
What class would stock engine fwd be in, stock hp is 110's weight 2100lbs w/o driver? What can be done to engines in the classes, pistons, cams, left stock? Electronics? programmable fuel and ignition? Any specific class for 5sp's compared to automatics? Thank you for your time, advice, and information. |

You first need to get an education in classification guide 101. I barely understand it and I been racing for 39 years. I would suggest going to a divisional near you and talk to tech people and racers.Remember there are tech people and then there are stock/superstock tech people. Find out which ones to talk to.JMO anybody else?

First thing you need to find out is if your car is in the book as a Stocker combo, a division tech director can help with that. If its not your out of luck, what we have heard is that Super Stock classes will be added for some of the nopi cars but they are not adding Stocker classes so check with your division tech man. The guide shows all the american cars and only Opel, Honda, Mitsubishi and Saturn being an odd ball.

Steve,
I've been running a FWD car in Stock for almost 20 years now. I can tell you it's as confusing now as it was 20 years ago. If you would like I will try to answer your questions. Lets do this by email. Jim jimwahl@embarqmail.com

Steve -- Since no one else did I will -- WELCOME -- we need racers of all kinds even though most of us don't understand or know about anything but domestic iron - I'm sure between myself and others here you'll find a place to race -- again , welcome aboard ! ! !
BTW -- Even though I'm a used car guy I can't tell what brand your car is -- shame on me .
