At Vegas, round 1 of stock is usually always at 7:30 AM. In any event, there is a schedule posted so we all know what time we should be ready to race. Those of us that get to the lanes on time are always waiting on those who don't (and it's usually the same people race after race! ) We're there to race. If your social calendar doesn't coincide with the racing schedule then perhaps you shouldn't be there? Nothing against Lee but I like the designated pairing set up. It gets the action started when it should. I wish they did it at the national events.

I went to the Vegas divisional a couple years ago, it was a pretty full day and the cars were paired up in the lane in the dark before dawn. I think it was 7am rather than 7:30 and that's when the first two did their burnouts not when they call you.
But in between Stock and Super Stock we had to suffer something like three and half hours of Super Gas and Super Comp. Must have been 200+ SC dragsters. I went across the street after watching the Force girls run and toured the Shelby facility for an hour and a half then stopped in the warehouse area for a bit where a Dyno Day was going on with 900hp Subarus (street driven!) and after eating there were still around 50 SC left to run. The nearly 100 SS cars took about 5 minutes or just seemed that way. They were still running alky cars well after dark when i left. |

D1 generally only gets three qualifiers on a normal good weather race, two shots isn't much different! It's the end of the year, you should be ready. Adjust accordingly! One is probably sufficient! Time shots are highly over-rated for those who are prepared. Look at it this way, it saves you fuel!

I forgot what the schedule was when I was there but I do remember that I lost 5th round and got a whole $75 dollars round money. Yes 5th round.

Here is the response I received from Division 7 Director Mike Rice.
"How about 3 days and 800 cars? You figure out how to do it better and be done at a decent hour each day, especially Sunday. I think I've bee more than fair to all racers, this is just something that happens at this event, and the track is not willing to run a 4 day event (like we did 2 years ago). Without that, there is no possible way to get 3 hits, unless we run until 3AM like they did at the old Vegas track. I REFUSE to put racers in jeopardy with conditions like we get late in the evening at that time of year. I do not agree with this race being scheduled the week before the Finals, as it becomes a last ditch effort race for out of division racers and obviously prevents us from getting our normally scheduled 3 qualifying runs. I, for one, will be choosing to make the car count 799 and save the $500+ it would cost me to attend this race. Good luck to all that decide to attend! Thank you to Mike Rice for taking the time to respond to my e-mail.

I know, dump the classes for THIS race that are NOT running for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We already have more than 6 on schedule anyway. Whoa, that was easy!!!!!!!!!!!!! B Seems to me, that as of late, we have way too many classes at a Div. for anybody to fit in their runs. No worries I reckon, the economy will take care of that !!!!!!!!!!!!

There are just way too many classes run at points races these days. They seem to come up with another one every time they turn around. They force the racer to go to these things by the grading system .Sat nite at Wichita bracket races used to pay more back in the 70's

BTW, Lee never complained about being one of the first three pairs out. I want everyone to know I just thought of all the racers there, they could have picked someone else, although I doubt that anyone told the D7 Director he was getting married. |
