I'd go crazy and get rid of throttle stops in the 10.90 class, make it a fun door handle to door handle race. Add a nostalgia TF class and a nostalgia ss class. I would dabble at certain locations an Outlaw 10.5 class. Keep Sunday racing and make sure to have a night qualifying session for TS/TD PM, PS, and TF.
Divisionals, I'd book a group like th UMTR to help with the Saturday night show. Put a "bounty" on all #1 qualifiers, beat them and get money.. |

Where to start, first bring bader back. then lower qualified car gets lane choice, give people something to actually "run" for. Number one qualifier money would be nice in all classes. Put all stockers and superstockers with the same weight breaks in the same class, then the hp and indexes will work themselfs out. Oh, did i mention bring Bader back and low qualifier money?

for nastalgia superstock bring back the old c/sm class and have them run a spec head like brodix makes for all 3 car co. keep it cheap, no porting, manual cluth assisted 5 speeds only for crowd appeal.

It's very simple. When I go to the races, I want to race. Not sit and sunburn. I don't want to invest $200k on a place to sit because we are not racing. Give me some runs and I will race more. Three days off work and two or three runs is way out of line. First rounds in front of a Friday crowd does not entice me. I don't mind paying to play, but we're really not playing that much anymore.
I understand why NHRA wants to sign up more cars per event. However, the advertising messages are being diluted by too many competing companies as a result of the massive amount of cars at each event. Subsequently, there is less perceived value for current and prospective event and team sponsors. I hope the pendulum is about to swing the other way. Anyone ever wonder how a bass tournament winner can win so much more than us? I genuinely do not know the answer, but it is worth a discussion. Mike Forgive the thread hijack...thought it was an NHRA question...sorry Last edited by Mike Dahl; 10-17-2008 at 03:42 PM. |
