Default Valve spring retainers

Can anyone recommend a retainer? 624 head 350 Chevy with 1.220 springs in a stocker with 400 lbs. over the nose. Are the Chevy HP Z/28 retainers sufficient for this task?
Thanks,
Joe Marcinowski

Joe, i have used a lot of them wirh that much spring pressure with no failure on roller cams. but if you are using flat tappet, i am not sure about using them, i would think they would be ok, but i've not had that much pressure on one of those type cams, almost but not quite.

Woodro, Thank you for the reply. I will be using a flat lifter. I will also probably end up close to 400 but not quite, I was just being general. I have the Z/28 retainers, I am just wondering if there is a better alternative.
Thanks, Joe

Use the retainer off the Vortec heads.. Lite and shorter installed height. or LT1 ...lightest

Thank you guys for the response. I was aware of the light weight, I just wasn't sure if the GM retainers could handle the load of a stocker engine. If Woodro Josey and Bub Whitaker both say to use the GM retainers, I guess nothing more needs to be said.
Later, Joe
