Good evening -- before too much time goes by I've got to do some thanking for any good that came out of this race for me . After breaking my engine in round one I was going to throw in the towel and just try to get it fixed for Pomona but Billy Leber talked me into at least trying to fix it at Vegas for the next round . I spent most of the day trying to find parts with no success at all .Late Saturday afternoon I was speaking with Rick Dahl -- a local racer and machinist who said maybe he could help -- long story short he did-- his son found me some used parts that he said could be fixed "good as new" and off we went to Rick's shop -- and a couple of hours later I had a cylinder head that was useable again . Back to the track I went and Billy and I put her back together -- fired it up in the middle of the night and sounded damm good .Well the rest is history that you all know except did I mention that Rick Dahl was also my first round opponent who I beat ? I guess my point is its never too late to make new friends and before I left Las Vegas Speedway I told Rick that I was sure our paths would cross again .
