I finally get to race @ Div races that are actually Northeast. I am so glad Pitts is off Div 1 schedule...Great people but terrible racing/track layout (my experience only).

Its the same old thing. Your not going to please everyone all the time. Personally, i like it. Now between NHRA and IHRA i have 6 races within a hour or so from home. I know most classracers dont like 1/8th mile, but its a necassary evil. I dont like it either, but Chris B is right. With the speeds that the top sportsmen run and some of the rod cars they need to be 1/8 mile. Now, Rockingham in my opinion should be 1/4 same for Coastal Plains as well as Darlington. But to say a drag race is 1320 feet, i dont agree. I think 1/8 is harder to run because you have less time to think. I would still rather run 1/4 but if they want to run it 1/8, then ill still race. Hell, Mason Dixion use to have a 330 foot race, now that was fast...Hope to see everyone next year...

Pittsburgh has enough stopping room, after a triple race weekend last year....i didnt hear anyone complaining about getting stopped at top end. Quaker City was a good track also.......i personally dont understand the change.
I understand that you cant please everyone Duane, but last years schedule was nice with the exception of moving skyview 3 times.

My open letter to IHRA. Thank you for creating such a poor racing schedule. Now myself and other div 3 NHRA/IHRA racers will not haft to renew our IHRA membership next year. I still cannot figure out why you want to race nationals events in texas when car counts are down in those areas. While nationals events in the north seem to do better. I'am not saying don't expand to those areas, just taking away evens in locations that are your strong points makes little sense to myself. I know milan is a **** whole I live 10 mile away and only race there two times a year. But I think Bill B made the right move three years ago. I can start to see the rats leave the sinking ship.

Thumbs down Re: IHRA Pro Am schedule posted

1/8 mile blows goats!
Midwest racers won't race that way and niether will most NHRA racers.
If they like it so much down down south and in division 9 that great.
Just keep it there!
If T/S and T/D are too fast for the "questionable" tracks, them make them run 1/8 mile and leave the rest of the classes at 1/4 mile.

The song Drag City by Jan and Dean does not start out "burn off that 1/8 mile" does it?

Schedule is fine with us.
Milan should not have left but it's gone so no sense in crying about it anymore.

Fortunately there is still time to make some changes.
I hope that somebody at IHRA is smart enough to do so, otherwise there will be a couple unhappy track operators after they wind up losing money from the poor turn outs.

I have raced at Osceola the last two years, and never had a problem stopping.(Really miss the 1000 ft clocks, though)
If it is unsafe at 1/4 for T/S and T/D,then they should run 1/8,but don't change the rules for everyone.
If the entry fee is still going to be $135 per race, then it should be cut to $67.50 for the 1/8 mile.

The 2009 Race schedule on my site (www.nitrojoes.com) has been updated with all the IHRA Divisional events and i worked on it some so you can download it in your computer and do an easy sort with it.
Remember, just hit cancel when asking you for password on my site. It will go to file then.

I personally like running the 1/8 mile div. races because thats really all Div.9 has run since the 2 years that i have been driving and really since my dad built the stocker and drove....but on the other hand it feels like a disavantage to us D.9 racers going to nationals and runnig 1/4 mile races when last year you had 3 div. running pro ams in the 1/4...there are some good tracks in D.9 and D.2 you can run a 1/4 mile race to give us a more equal race expierience like other Div....it looks like other div. this year are getting punished it seems by running 1/8 mile races at good long 1/4 mile tracks...div.9 needs to throw the rock pro am later in our season when it warms up and run it 1/4 mile and then run darlington 1/4 for div.2..just my thoughts and opinions

Chris K,
Did you not see the T/S wreck at Pittsburgh, Or Q/R and S/R cars pulling chutes. My S/R car only runs 145 MPH and it was a handful to stop. That track needs to stay 1/8th.

I do agree I would like to see at least one 1/4 mile race in div 9.
