Notice to NHRA Sportsman competitors
11/25/2008 Due to abuses of the policies, pit parking complications, and pending changes to the online credential system the following changes will go into effect for all Sportsman categories in 2009: Provisional entries (Gold, Silver, past world and past event champions) will not be allowed to re-enter after withdrawing. Bronze Card holders will no longer be guaranteed entry. Bronze card holders must enter prior to the category reaching quota. Once a category has reached quota, entries will not be accepted if the competitors grade point is less than when the category reached quota. Example: If a national event reaches its quota at Grade 4, only competitors with a Grade 4 or higher will be able to enter the event, regardless of the number of withdrawals. Available transfers within the system will automatically be used during the check out process. Under Payee information competitors must enter address, Tax ID or Social Security number. Driver changes will not be accepted. Gate entries will not be accepted. All Provisional entries (Gold, Silver, Past Event and Past World Champions) must be completed online by Monday at 1 p.m. (Pacific time) the week of the event.

The one that sticks in my craw is the issue about no entries being accepted below a certain grade point once the category has closed at that grade point. Why not? Especially if no grade 4 or higher (as per their example) registers, why shouldn't a lower grade competitor be able to get in? You know why, because they want to FORCE everyone to go to a bazillion LODRS events, and they're annoyed that due to low car counts last year that people have been able to get it by waiting for the withdraws to go through in the last few days. You know what I've got to say about that? ![]()

Beard,
Sounds like the most important issue is for NHRA to stop abuse of the system than to have more happy customers. Could the abuse they mention be of the staff? You know work. I can't believe racers would be abusing the system.

It's funny how IHRA is practically begging people to come race with them and alot of racers won't give them the time of day. NHRA dumps all over there racers and guys can't get enough of it.

I gave up on NHRA in July when they said I needed to renew my membership even tho I hadn't even finished the first year of a two year membership renewal. Do you think I could get a answer to this. NO. So nothing by them suprises me anymore. Only thing I know is they wont be getting anymore of my money.
