GarysZ24, While my friend the late Steve Taylor won quite often bracket racing his fleet of Z24s', I believe the Z24 you are referring to with the runner-up finish at Rockingham in the mid 80's was Mike Ellis from Durham,N.C. It was red and black and he drove it to the track.

One of my first heroes in Stock was Rusty Canfield. His Charger was a Shelby, but collectors always told him it wasn't because it didn't have the embroidery in the headrest... except Rusty's was the very first one - the rotisserie show car! He helped me out a ton with the Turismo when I was first getting started.
![]() One of my favorite Stockers of all time is Ray Golanka's Q/SA Caddilac, although I'm not sure that it fits this post, as Ray got it into the 12's back in the late '90s! Yeah, smokin' the right rear tire... ![]() ![]() ![]() That's one way to make Billy's U/SA Nova look fast! ![]()

You're correct Dennis. That's why it had the expensive one off final gear ratio.
When Junior C.raced the car we tried to get the car to go .500 under for class.First the 1950's mini round air cleaner went south. Then we removed the rear spoiler.Picked up .2 and over 1 1/2 mph.He got the Wally, just barely. I also took the rear spoiler off Zippy's Spirit and picked up almost 2 mph.I wonder what it's worth on the early Camaros? Ed

Wow, so he's the only fwd divisional Stock Eliminator, and you the only fwd national winner...I guess those of us who're still racing those cars are going to have to get our stuff together, because no one has done either so far this century, although there's been several close calls...Steve Polhill & Stan Kopejtka being the most easily known. You two are of a very elite (small) group that I'm determined to join...perhaps in 2009???

It looked like it could be street legal, and since it ran mid-16's (altitude adjusted that would've been close to the 18.0 I got out of mine back in '93 when I first started racing that car), I thought it could be street legal. Now I just wish I had the video footage again to enjoy looking at...so to Mike Ellis & to you Ronnie and the late Steve Taylor's other friends/family (to borrow from Siskel & Ebert movie critic fame), TWO THUMBS WAY UP!!! I often wonder why no one other than those two and now I are the only Cavalier Z24 (or Cavalier period) racers??? I feel I have a good combination, and once I get my driving skills back up to par, I might be someone (else), to give those 12.99 & quicker Stockers fits...I'm sure trying!
