So Myron, what have they(IHRA) done on the Crate motor engines about establishing runner volumes?

XTECH man what is that suppose to mean. One thing about it there are some racers that love ratting out other racers on certain things some which are stupid. I love it when a racers starts a conversation knowing he is going to tell the tech guy everything that is said. What do you racers think about that?

Herb.....Ive been around this stuff almost as long as you are old. I NEVER ratted out anyone and never will. Ive fought long and hard years ago (about 10) about this horse s**t to no end with Len Imbrigno, Bob Lang of NHRA and IHRA people but its like talking to a stone wall. When they take the volumes from heads that have already been ported its a friggin' JOKE like most were done in S/S. . Ive also done cylinder heads for racers since 1969 and have seen it all from 22 years of tech inspection. All they need to do is use a CORRECT volume with a + tolerance from a VIRGIN head and let it go. Dont set up a spec. from one of these cars that runs 1.4O under just because the car is owned by a super star. This crap of hiding what goes on will never change until they get the rules written to where the cost of these heads and intake manifolds can become a little less expensive. When the inspectors cannot DQ a part because the way a rule is written it needs to be changed. Just my opinion and we all know what amounts to. ZIP !

I spent alot of time and $$$ 12 years ago to have my heads pour legal,so what do they do,quit pouring.I've seen heads that looked like the holland tunnel on lots of engine combos,so it would be hard to keep up with those. So guys you have till 2010 to "GO FAST",hopefuly.

I always thought this was supposed to be fun. Too many sticks in the mud most of the time though.

You all have fun with your heads up hoorah. I will keep on hiding in a class where I don't have to worry about heads up... and have more fun while I am there!

I think if you have nothing to hide you don't have anything to worry about.

What is going to happen when these runner volumes are published and the numbers published are 20 cc's bigger than a racers perfectly untouched stock heads? Does the racer get to "acid" their untouched heads to match the approved numbers?

Agreed but lets face it, every car has something in the GREY area if its looked at hard enough. I didnt say ILLEGAL, I said GREY area. Now after saying that what if a racer spends more time in the tech trailer telling BS stuff on other racers than his own pit area, to the point the tech guys are tired of it. And yes I'm beating around the bush on the this topic.

Herb, I would say that tech needs to have the integrity to tell the racer to put up some protest money or leave the teching to the officials. I have seen Smith and Olynic (never could spell his name) do that on several occasions in the past. Also saw Olynic(sp) give out the worst %$# chewing I think I ever heard and threaten to disqualify a racer for looking over his shoulder at the fuel check sheet.
