I have a svo351 stroked to 435, I ran in IHRA hotrod. It goes 9.34 @ 141 and 10.90 @ 136. It has blue thunder heads. I ran a c-4 from dynamic converters and shifted on time. I shifted third gear on rpm @ 7200.
I have used every SBF combo and to make them run you need alot of comp. and stroke to get them moving off of the stop. My car weighed 2992#. Glen fergueson runs a 351 stroked with yates heads also and he goes 10.90 @ 134. You also need to spin the crap out of that 306,331,347 to run #'s...I build alot of NMRA motors for guys. Your welcome to take my 435 for 10k TK...I am going SS racing. I would put those heads you have on a 4.00 stroke, 4.125 bore motor with a .721 or so lift cam with .270-.280 duration@ .050., super victor intake, mvh spacer, gary stinnet gas carb. Good luck. I will tell you what DOES NOT WORK ON A FORD. lol SS/EM 161 Quick Rod 161 |

Thanks guys, sounds like I am lacking in compression and cam for now, maybe the gear as well. This car all last year kept having trans issues and only got three or four good runs out of it.
For some reason it never wanted to pull much past 5700 rpm, I thought it may be the hydrolic roller that was in it, never put the mechanical one in it yet. I am looking at a 408 with aftermarket 4 bolt caps, and a good steel crank. will use my mechanical cam, and heads, have to get a new intake and all.. And switch to the glide with the 5000 stall converter, Do you guys think I need more gear? 3.73's with a 28x10.5 tire?

Friend of mine runs a Mustang II with a 302....10.30's I think best times, If I remember right 10.90's at about 126...I believe he runs a 800 holley...Lots of rear gear (5.14's) and keep the 3 speed, and lots of convertor (at least 5800-6000 )...little motors need lots of help getting going on the bottom of the track..
You have lots of head and cam, it needs to run up there in the RPM, you should cross the line at 7500 at least... Just my .02...

I have not run the mechanical roller in this car yet. The motor has been running with a Motorsport hydrolic roller one of thier F cams.
