One thing that has not been mentioned is Jeggie shifting the transmission to "safe neutral" after finishing the run. On those type of shifters, reverse/neutral are on the same detent. I have the same shifter that he has. To go into reverse on my transmission, you have to engage the trans brake to back up. I am not saying he has or uses one, just making a point. Dyno

I've been burned by this stuff and I hate to see others get burned by it also. I'm nutty 'cause I care.

Come on Pete, you know as well as I do that throwing a blinder in the seat after the car has left wouldn't give you any advantage on the tree. Its a matter of what is a rule violation and what isn't. Too many rules not adhered to because of lack of enforcement is what has dilluted Stock and SS to what it is now. Whoever wrote the rule about permenant attachment of blinders must have thought it was somewhat important to include it in the rule book. If it is important enough to put it in writing then it is important enough to be enforced.

Drooze, you need to come up with something new and break up all this crap. There has gotta be something better to talk about. How about the DP's going to fast, the Fords going to fast, the C/SA's going too fast last year at Indy and kicking my can (no 11 of 11). Bruce Noland being nice, the oil spill, Greg Hill being happy with the new cars (Greg, that was too easy), old time rock-n-roll, Larry Hill's pink car, not enough beer, too much beer, Monday HP, Tuesday HP, Grey Goose Pear Vodka with a touch of tonic, Redfish, children, grandchildren, good typers, bad typers, anything but this stuff. Gee

Ok,
I didn't want to bring it up, but since SS guy did so here goes. He is absolutely right about the importance of the blinder rule. Some may not, but NHRA did think it was important enough to enlist the help of 4 racers to help pen the blinder rule. They assigned one of their Tech people to guide and oversee what was written. Then it went to NHRA and was tossed around in committee. I am proud to say I was one of the 4 racers that had some input in the rule. I'm also proud to say NHRA took the highroad on that rule. It is all about safety. It is also my opinion there is no room for a minor rule infraction. Peter, if that was the case the 1/4 inch of my right side wheel base that was outside the limits should have been considered MINOR... It wasn't so I lost # 1 qualifier and also lost a new SS/DS class record. Rules are rules and we must abide by all of them. Peter, Please don't make defending your friend make you look bad or look like you are compromising your integrity. I've always looked up to you and your family as leaders in this sport, as well as Jeg and his family. I still will... Lets move on .. It is what it is.... By the way that wheelbase rule probably saved me some grief with my car. The problem was a rt front suspension about to fall apart...
