As a track operator i have actually taken a pit vehicle key out and made the parent come to me to get it back. Not once did they complain to me. Oh yea FED sorry to bring this up but he paid Vegas track to store the nitro and bring it to his rig for Monday testing that is the only reason NHRA knew it was there. It was upstairs and it wasnt 300 gallons. Anyway just remember they will do what they want to do because they always have.

How much you want to bet the "GOLF CART ****S" have never pitted by the airstrip in Norwalk or in the sandspurs at Rockingham.

I agree with the spectators complaint, so make them leave their carts at home, but don't punish the racer who pits a mile from the starting line.

FED, I agree about Shoemacher on this page, the point I was making with the original post was about the "impartial" appeals panel made up of NHRA employees..........If they treat the Pros that way, it's no wonder we suffer some of the decisions they hand down to the Sportsman racers. ......Tom

Now that Shoemacher has appealed it goes to the next appeal level which is comprised of impartial people. Per the NHRA rulebook:

Section 1.8 (pages 31-36). This is exactly how the process goes. First appeal is by a standing appeals panel that is made up of NHRA employees.

That determination may be appealed with a "Final Appeal" per section 1.8.7 and that is heard by a different panel made up of one NHRA employee and two "members of the racing community". Those members must not have been a competitor in the current calendar year, have any financial or personal conflicts of interest with respect to the issue. The appealing party (DSR) can object to the makeup of the panel.

This is all very clearly spelled out, the process is very detailed, and appears to be being followed quite to the letter.
