What about the 904 that bolts right up to a Chevy? No adapter.

The 904 Jeep trans came in a right hand drive post office delivery jeep made around 20-25 years ago.It used a 4 cylinder engine called the iron duke, and cores for this trans aren't too common anymore, but they are findable. It had the Chevy block bolt pattern on the front. I'm not sure what flywheel/converter configuration they used. I've never had one around to look at it close.('>')

The 904 came behind the 4 cyl GM and was available in most AMC cars also - concords, spirits, etc for several years 1980 - 83 or so.
Car-part.com has some listed for $50 - $125 for complete transmissions. |

I got one with the intent of using it until I learned it was not legal. Very light and exactly the same length as a 4L60E. Input & output shafts about the same diameter as my thumb. :-)

That was my whole point and yes the AMC/904 is not legal in a GM vehicle....
But if it had an NHRA approved adapter it would be legal.. I guess the GM Powerglide / MOPAR adapter is on the double secret approved list. Bob
